i'm having an operation tomorrow.

having complete jaw joint replacement surgery.
cutting down whole side of face, sawing through upper and lower jaw bones, then screwing a new titanium one in place.
can't wait!
apparently it's a very rare op, so wondering if any of you have had it or know anyone that has...

no, normal jaw, but joint on one side is fucked. cartilage disc goney, so been bone on bone for couple of years now and just ground to shit.

Saw a guy at a game recently who had had his whole lower jaw removed. Just had a bandage covering the hole.
Probably had the same operation go wrong.

in hospital 6 days. will be wired shut to start, then hopefully removed on day 6 and replaced with elastic so I can move onto 'soft foods'.
so, scrambled eggs and custard basically.

I used to work with a bloke who had almost his entire skull rebuilt after having a massive tumour removed from inside his skull.
Honestly, there was no sign he'd ever had anything done at all. Fucking amazing surgery and that was about 8 years ago, I'm sure they've got even better since them.
